Ward councillor Ralf Bittkau confirmed the closure of President Fouché Drive, stating that JRA awaits JW’s tests to determine the cause of the hole.

A section of President Fouché Drive, heading towards Kelly Road from CR Swart Drive, has been closed due to a hole that has sunk a portion of the road.

Ward councillor Ralf Bittkau confirmed the closure and stated that Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) is aware of the issue. However, before any repairs can begin, Johannesburg Water (JW) needs to conduct tests to determine the cause.

President Fouché Drive, heading toward Kelly Road from CR Swart Drive, is closed.

The hole may have been caused by a burst underground pipe or erosion due to the recent rainfall. Until the source of the problem is confirmed, motorists are advised to use alternative routes.

The Randburg Sun reached out to both JRA and JW for comment, but did not receive a response at the time of publication. Their statements will be added once available.
