Clanwilliam Dam upgrades set to create 15,000 jobs

CLANWILLIAM - Western Cape government officials say the R6,8-billion Clanwilliam Dam expansion project will be a major economic boost for the region once completed. 

Local government officials and Water and Sanitation Department officials visited the site to get a progress update on the construction expected to be completed by May 2028. 

The  project involves raising the dam wall by 13 metres, leading to additional water supply that’s expected to yield up to 15,000 jobs in the region’s agricultural sector. 

Construction has been riddled with delays over the 15 years, but authorities are pleased that work is continuing.
