The construction of three outdoor bomas is underway at Sun International’s Meropa Casino & Entertainment World in Limpopo at a cost of R1.5 million.
The bomas, built over two months by local contractors, will open towards the end of September 2024. Each boma will boast its own fire pit in the centre with tables and chairs for 80 people in the main boma and 26 people in the two smaller bomas.
Suitable for relaxed family dinners or corporate gatherings, guests will be transported 2.5km in game-viewing vehicles to the new evening experience which will accommodate spit braais, shisa nyamas, and African cuisine. On the last Saturday of every month, the bomas will also host Meropa’s Walk-In Leisure Market.
In 2022, the Meropa Outdoor Arena launched with the capacity to host up to 4 000 people with the casino unveiling two new private gaming rooms. In early 2024, after a fourteen-month renovation and a R2.5 million investment, Meropa launched its WildThingz Bird and Reptile Park with a new pet shop, a 25-metre swimming pool and a daycare centre for children aged between five and ten years. Through a partnership with UB Leisure, Meropa are also introducing new quad bikes and Segways.
Leading up to Meropa’s 25th anniversary, there are plans for a six-hole golf course and padel courts at a projected investment cost of R1.2 million.
