The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, alongside His Holiness Unyazi Lwezulu, today participated in the sod-turning ceremony for the Sivananda World Peace Foundation International Peace, Yoga & Wellness Centre in Groutville.

The event marked the official commencement of construction for a facility envisioned to foster peace, wellness, and spiritual growth.

Addressing attendees, MEC Buthelezi expressed gratitude to the Sivananda World Peace Foundation for the initiative, highlighting the significance of the occasion. “It is both an honour and privilege to partake in this sod-turning ceremony,” the MEC stated. “This occasion marks not just the commencement of a construction project, but the laying of a foundation for something far greater – a beacon of peace, a sanctuary for wellness, and a centre for spiritual growth that will undoubtedly enrich the lives of countless individuals.”

A key highlight of the ceremony was the address by His Holiness Unyazi Lwezulu, who commended Prince Ishwar Ramlutchman Mabheka Zulu for his commitment as a leader within the Sivananda World Peace Foundation. His Holiness noted the Foundation’s partnership with the Shembe Church in many endeavours that have greatly benefited the church.

The establishment of the International Peace, Yoga & Wellness Centre is seen as a significant development for Groutville and the wider province. It promises to offer a space for solace, the learning of practices like yoga and meditation, and personal self-discovery. Furthermore, the centre is anticipated to attract national and international visitors, potentially boosting the local economy and showcasing KwaZulu-Natal’s cultural and spiritual heritage.

MEC Buthelezi commended the Foundation for its dedication to the cause of peace and wellness and applauded its commitment to working collaboratively with other religious groups.
