The Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads & Infrastructure Ernest Rachoene is continuing and standing true to the commitment made that the service delivery monitoring programme which he embarked on last week at Lepelle Nkumpi , Municipality in the Capricorn District will be extended to all the districts. MEC Rachoene has today joined the road maintenance workers who patching potholes on the D4 Elim Road from Elim to the N1, Makhado Local Municipality, Vhembe District.
The MEC has been joined by the Vhembe District Executive Mayor, Cllr Freda Nkondo, the local Mayor Cllr Dorcus Mboyi, councillors and senior officials from the department and Roads Agency Limpopo.
"Our team will be here for the whole week to continue with the work. The pothole patching programme is intended to augment the work of Dikgerekgere Programme, where whilst we are busy with Dikgerekgere, others will be busy patching potholes to make our roads drivable". says MEC Rachoene.
This road is one of the strategic roads that connects Elim to N1 and also serves as a shortcut from N1 to Malamulele.
"We will be going to other districts to reinforce capacity to ensure our roads continue to receive the attention they deserve for the benefit of the people of this province,” he added.
The D4 road is currently being done in phases and the patch work is aimed at mitigating some of the budgetary challenges that the department’s entity RAL is currently faced with.
