Rustenburg – “The 43-month dual carriageway construction along the N4 between Buffelspoort and Dr. Moroka interchange is on track, with essential blasting activities expected to conclude by the end of October 2024,” said Charmaine van Wyk, PR manager for Bakwena. This project, which began in March, aims to improve road safety and efficiency in the Rustenburg Local Municipality.
Although traffic can be challenging, especially with the 10-15 minute delays during blasting, we appreciate the traffic officials who are tirelessly working to keep things moving smoothly.
Blasting removes rock outcrops in the road foundation, providing a stable surface for construction. These blasts, managed by contractor Raubex and their team, have been performed safely, without damage to property or injuries. The final blasting dates for October are planned between R24 Waterfall Mall and Helen Joseph Interchange, with updates provided on Bakwena’s social media.
Beyond the N4, Bakwena is investing R300 million in other improvements along the N1N4 route, including resurfacing projects, bridge maintenance, and plaza upgrades to ensure smooth travel for all road users. “Road user safety is our top priority,” says Solomon Kganyago, Bakwena’s COO. “We appreciate the patience of drivers as we complete these upgrades.”
