An official opening of the Port Shepstone Mall will be held on November 15.

KZN has a new shopping destination in Ray Nkonyeni Municipality – the Port Shepstone Mall.

The mall opens today (Thursday), and South Coasters can look forward to brand-new stores. Anchor tenants include Boxer Cash and Carry, Shoprite and OBC Butcher.

There’s also a variety of new clothing, shoe and beauty stores, several restaurant and coffee shops, major banks, cellular stores, homeware, pharmacy/medical and much more. Although most stores are not ready as yet, they will be trading by the official opening on November 15.

The lifestyle shopping mall was designed by Winterbach Pretorius Letele Architects and developed by Construction ID in a joint venture with Top Dog Construction.

Provision has been made for level zero to be the main public (taxi) transport entrance with around 200 active taxi bays, which also links to the adjacent bus rank and an overflow taxi holding area. Level zero will also host designated vendor points.

Shoppers can be assured of 24/7 security; it is wheelchair-friendly, has escalators and lifts and ample rooftop parking with easy street access.

The mayor of RNM, Clr Zodwa Mzindle, welcomes the opening of the new mall. “The development is a first of its kind, streamlining retail with the need for public transportation. The municipality remains committed to providing ongoing support to ensure that this investment into our area is of benefit to its residents,” she said.

Craig Kirkpatrick from Winterbach Pretorius Letele Architects said the mall will create a vibrant and friendly hub for all shoppers and visitors. “There are four levels, and all four can be traversed within the central core, which has two lifts and eight escalators. We look forward to welcoming all to the mall and also thank the Port Shepstone community for bearing with us during the construction period. “
