GAPANE-D447 road between Kgapane and Tzaneen town remains a potential death trap and a nightmare for motorists. This is due to the potholes and sinkholes that have developed on a stretch of the road that make it almost impossible for motorists to navigate.

This issue continues unabated despite the Department of Transport and Community Safety’s commitment to mitigate and resolve it.

The publication published an article on 13 November 2023, which brought the risk the road poses to motorists to the fore. To date, no action has been forthcoming, except for EPWP workers who are deployed from time to time to patch up the road here and there, only for the potholes to develop again.

In a recent report published on 23 December 2023, Tzaneen Voice published another article depicting the collapse of a portion of the same road in Kgapane.

However, there is still no sign of action from the relevant department, hitherto.

Residents and motorists said that they are defeated as the local and provincial governments have only been able to offer temporary solutions.
