''We are only doing this to save lives, it's not for personal gain."

Magaliesburg — Since the Easter holidays the Ga-Mogale Community came together to repair the pothole-riddled R24 Road in Magaliesburg and have been working tirelessly to make their community a more attractive and safer destination.

The number of accidents occurring on the roads has been alarming so the residents continue to make a difference. They now hope that other residents will jump in and follow suit.

On April 14 they made more progress as they went on to repair the potholes on Vorster Road which was a result of the heavy rains experienced before the Easter weekend.

The project was unique in that it was not just controlled by men, but a few young women also worked on it to make roads safer for everybody.

Vusi Sithole, the leader of the project says he hopes this project will inspire the community to take hands.

“To achieve this we used resources at our disposal. We don’t have more resources to continue and so we ask local businesses to come to the party – this is a project for the community. We can’t wait for the government to come and fix potholes. Most people think we are paid for doing what we do, but as you can see in the pictures, we are professionally conducting ourselves, especially when we work on a national road. We are only doing this to save lives not personal gain,” says Vusi.

Vusi is very proud that the community came out to support him as more work will be done.
