Upgrading of the Swart River Dam access road will impact residents, hikers, cyclists and road users from March 2025 to November 2025.
GEORGE NEWS - The rehabilitation of the Swart River Dam access road will impact the residents and road users during the construction which is estimated to take approximately 8 months.
The work consists of widening the road surface to between 2.5m and 2.8m, the installation of gabion and reno mattresses and regarding of the road where necessary.
Traffic impact
The intended construction work will primarily take place within the road reserves, with some planned open trench road crossings. The project will impact residents, hikers, cyclists and road users.
It is important for the public to be aware of the planned work, as there will be excavations and work on the access road.
The work area will be fully closed to the public and no member of the public will be allowed to access the construction area throughout the construction period.
Access to the site will be strictly controlled, in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Working hours:
- Monday to Friday 07:00 to 18:00
- Saturday (as needed): 07:00 to 14:00
