Construction on the new Club Med South Africa beach resort, which started in March 2024, is progressing well and is set to open in July 2026.

A spokesperson for the development told BusinessTech that over 1,000 people work on the development site every day.

She said the project remains on track for completion before the launch date next year, which is good news for the local economy.

Although the resort will open in July 2026, Club Med’s global reservations will open between June and July 2025.

Upon launch, the resort expects to welcome 400 foreign guests weekly, primarily from the French and Belgian markets.

The new Club Med South Africa beach resort, a partnership between Club Med and the Collins Residential Consortium, includes a hotel, luxury villas, and conference facilities.

Collins Residential director Chris du Toit said they partnered with Club Med in 2018 to develop the resort in KwaZuly-Natal.

The R2 billion resort is located in Tinley Manor near Ballito, on the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal, and is bordered by wildlife reserves.

The new Club Med resort is aimed at international and South African travellers, offering the brand’s signature all-inclusive experience.

At an all-inclusive price, guests can expect premium accommodation, gourmet meals, open bars, a wide range of land and water activities, and a dedicated kids’ club.

The kids clubs will offer tailored Club Med facilities and certified staff for children ages 4 months old.

There is also a strong focus on sports with sailing, surfing, diving, snorkelling, padel tennis, beach rugby, beach volleyball, archery, and a surf school.

The resort will also offer a spa, fitness centre with several daily classes, yoga school, adult-only Zen pool, and bar.

The Resort Centre will offer a shopping experience and gourmet food and beverages at its restaurant, bar, or wine corner.

The Safari Lodge, which is tied to the Club Med experience, lies in the heart of a big five game reserve in the north of Kwazulu-Natal province.

The 80-room lodge will be developed to Club Med standards to offer guests a dual beach and safari experience during their stay.

The Cub Med project has already enjoyed significant recognition and was identified as one of the Catalytic Projects rolled out in KwaZulu-Natal.

Exclusive Club Med Villa-Suites open for sale

At the end of 2024, Collins Residential launched the sale of the 66 Villa-Suites at Club Med South Africa Beach and Safari.

“We are delighted to bring this unique investment opportunity to South Africans as part of the Club Med offering, due to open in 2026,” it said.

The 66 Villa-Suites within the Exclusive Collection are available for purchase on a sectional title basis.

South African and international buyers are eligible, with ownership including profit-sharing benefits from hotel operations.

There are two options for investors looking to buy one of the 66 Villa-Suites at Club Med South Africa.
